I whine and meow when I'm petted and brushed, and when I'm not. I'm choosy about being picked up and held, but since He faithfully sets out a dish of milk, I show up.
How's that for theology.

I'm certain someone's taught me how
to sail. I'm also certain
I don't remember.
Understand this mast is thin. Understand that
if you lead then
I will follow.
The ocean water will choke you--I
know this because I crave it. And all the
bread we had to eat
went stale (now I'm certain you can't tell
me how to sail.)
If "all ye sailors" call for help, you'll
never hunger, and
you will never thirst.

God's been calling me to the waiting room,
but I wouldn't enter because I was terrified of the surgery.
Misconceptions about the Surgeon:
1. I mistook myself to be the Surgeon. I am only the patient.
2. I've been blaming the actual Surgeon for the affliction.
"But you must regard it as waiting, not as camping. You must keep on praying for light...." (C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity)
Things to remember:
1. This isn't just a waiting room. There are things to do.
2. I have a Surgeon who comes to meet me in the waiting room.

7:30 a.m.
Have you ever really seen 7:30 a.m.?
I've just finished Lauren's pie of the week. I got my hands on the second-to-last piece and am therefore required by the laws of food-etiquette not to covet the last piece but to save it for another roommate, all of whom are bound by the same law, until the last piece of apple pie has grown hard and stale in the refrigerator because no one will eat it.
And because of this, I have no excuses to procrastinate. It's back to Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird and feeling good about myself, which Lamott seems to have the power to do to me. Read her book. It will inspire you to write pointless posts for your blog.
